It uses an ultra low power chip to measure soil moisture capacitivley, and displays that on a cool little e-paper bar chart. It runs off a CR2302 coin cell (not included due to shipping complications - sorry!) which should last at least a couple of years before it needs changing. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI've been using these around my house for a few months now and I'm happy to say that they work fantastically! I'm manufacturing another small batch of them so that I can keep an eye on a few more of my plants. Due to economies of scale I've made more than I need, so the extras are up for sale just in case anyone is interested.
